Webfinity Studios To Provide Web Design Services
The Team Behind Zeeks.com Will Target Fast-Growing
Kids and Teens Market
PORTLAND, OR, September 15, 2000 - Citing tremendous growth in the online youth market, the founders of Zeeks.com, an award-winning games and entertainment site for kids ages 13 and under, today announced they will provide design and development services for companies wanting to reach kids and teens online. Webfinity Studios will create marketing solutions such as online promotions, interactive games, Web sites, and branded content. The boutique design firm will provide services to corporate clients and interactive agencies who have online projects targeting kids or teens.
"We've been approached by Fortune 500 companies several times over the past year to create interactive games and mini-sites for online promotions," said Steven Bryan, CEO of Webfinity Studios and Zeeks.com. "Creating outstanding digital entertainment for kids has been our strength for eight years now, first as a software company and now on the Web. Taking the next step to provide design services is a natural progression for us and leverages our expertise to new clients."
Under the Zeeks.com banner, the company has developed online projects for General Mills, Columbia TriStar Interactive, and the Sony Pictures Family Entertainment Group. Zeeks.com also has branded game sections on AOL's Kids Only Channel and Lycos' LycosZone.
The company's first project for General Mills, a mini-site named "Cheerios Playroom," resides on the Cheerios.com Web site and was promoted on more than eight million Cheerios packages beginning in July 2000. Three additional mini-sites for various General Mills' Snacks brands are currently in development at Webfinity Studios and will be hosted on the Zeeks.com site beginning in November 2000.
Zeeks.com provided games and entertainment content for Columbia TriStar's Stuart Little Web site, developed for the opening of the popular animated film in December 1999.
Over 26 million kids ages 2 to 18 currently use the Internet, a number that is expected to increase to 44 million by 2004, according to Jupiter Communications. Bryan cited the growth in the number of children and teens who use the Web as a critical factor in the decision to focus Webfinity Studios on Web design services.
"The youth market is the fastest growing segment of Internet users and is expected to remain the top growth segment over the next four years," Bryan said. "Marketers are wisely focusing their solutions on what most attracts these young users to the Web-interactive entertainment. They're looking for beyond-the-banner solutions that engage kids in a way that TV and radio cannot."
Internet advertising in the U.S. is projected to climb to $5 billion this year, Bryan noted. By 2005 the market is expected to triple to $15 billion. The number of advertisers spending on online marketing and interactive promotions also continues to show steady growth.
